Sushiro Sushi!

Sushi as we all know is one of Japan's delicacies. This dish is not only liked and savored by the Japanese people but foreigners as well. Honestly, when I was still new in this country, I can't stand the sight of raw fish being eaten. Maybe because I am overwhelmed by the thought of its stench! However, the smell of the fish here are not "fishy" at all, so to speak, compared in the Philippines, perhaps, it is because of the high quality! Everything that is edible here is dealt accordingly with care, from vegetables to fruits, from meat to seafoods. Having that in mind, I tried to eat sushi. The taste was interesting. The sourness of the rice was just right, the fish was fresh, the wasabi definitely gave a distinct taste, plus, dipping it in a flavorful sauce complements the entire dish. Since then, sushi has become one of my favorites. Occasionally, though.

Of course, it is better to understand the history of the food so we can appreciate it more. In ancient times, the fish is salted and preserved through encasing it in rice with vinegar. The fermentation process prevents the fish from spoiling. But back then, the rice is discarded, only the fish is consumed. Through time, the Japanese people discovered that the rice can also be relished, thus giving birth to the kind of sushi we are enjoying nowadays.

Sushi chefs are very meticulous in their art of food, their finer sensibilities make the preparation of sushi time consuming and expensive. In which, the general population doesn't have -- time and money. Hence, the popularity of kaiten-zushi bloomed.

Kaiten literally means revolution or rotation in Japanese. Therefore, typically kaitenzushi is a sushi fast food restaurant where plates of sushi are placed on a conveyor passing every table in the restaurant for easy grab. They do not only limit their offers to sushi, though, but offer soba, desserts, drinks, salads and fruits, as well.

Ideally, if you are looking for convenience and affordable sushi, Sushiro is the place. You can eat sushi here for 105 yen each! But bare this in mind, since it is very affordable in this restaurants, expect to wait in long queues.

Makizushi.
Tetsuka Maki. Ebi Sarada Maki. Tuna Salad Maki.

Nigirizushi.
Squid Sushi. Anago Sushi. Salmon Sushi.

Each table is coordinated or labeled with colors. Ours is pink. This means that the orders that are on top of these gold-colored-labeled-plates are not ours. We have to wait for the pink ones.

Shrimp Salad.

This is my sister devouring each piece! Slowly, sis, you might choke! :D

They have a touchscreen menu. If you can't find the sushi you like on the rotating belt, you can order them here. Or anything else on the menu, that is. ;)
